Whales Bought $1 Billion of Ethereum — Sign of a Rise to $5,000?
Major Ethereum investors are actively accumulating the asset — in the last two weeks, they have purchased over 330,000 tokens worth more than $1.08 billion. This information was provided by analyst MAXPAIN in their report.
Do Whales Believe in Growth?
Analytical data shows that addresses containing from 1,000 to 10,000 ETH have significantly increased their positions since January 7. Interestingly, a similar situation occurred in April when the same group of investors acquired more than 620,000 ETH. After that accumulation, the asset's price rose by 66%.

The number of active addresses on the network also increased to 180,000, which may indicate an influx of fresh capital. However, not everything is straightforward.

Retail Losing Interest
Analyst CryptoQuant Percival pointed out a sharp decline in spot trading volumes. Compared to January 2021, when the volume was $52 billion, in 2025 the figure dropped to $8 billion — a decrease of 84%. “This means that demand for Ethereum in the current bull market is significantly lower,” the expert emphasized.
Technical Analysis: Path to $5,000
Cryptocurrency investor Jelle noted the formation of an “inverted head and shoulders” pattern on the weekly Ethereum chart. Such a combination significantly increases the probability of a bullish breakout.

Market analyst Cold Blooded Shiller commented on the skeptical attitude of the industry towards Ethereum: “By March, ETH will reach $5,000, and it will have the effect of a bomb explosion.”

However, before reaching the $5,000 mark, Ethereum needs to overcome resistance at the $4,100 level. Currently, Ethereum remains the only cryptocurrency within the top 10 by capitalization that has not shown returns over the past 30 days.
